Litigation Attorney
Job Description:
A mid-sized firm is seeking a high-performing mid-to-senior civil litigation attorney to join its Litigation Department.
This is not a backseat role. You will take on meaningful responsibility from day one, working directly with sophisticated clients, contributing to case strategy with senior attorneys, and handling substantive written and oral advocacy across a high-impact and varied litigation docket.
This position is ideal for an attorney who wants:
- Better work, not volume for the sake of volume
- More responsibility and autonomy
- Direct client exposure
- Strong mentorship without bureaucracy
- A firm where excellent writing, judgment, and work ethic are noticed and rewarded
What Sets This Role Apart
The firm is deliberate about whom it hires.
The most important qualification for this role is exceptional legal writing. The firm is looking for an attorney who can take complex legal and factual issues and translate them into clear, precise, and persuasive advocacy.
If writing is not one of your strengths, this is not the right role.
Writing samples are reviewed closely. Generic, heavily edited, or non-substantive samples will not be considered.
The firm values attorneys who:
- Exercise sound judgment
- Communicate clearly and professionally with sophisticated clients
- Are responsive, thoughtful, and practical
- Can operate independently while contributing to a strong team
- Understand that business savvy is part of excellent lawyering
Key Responsibilities
- Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, mediation statements, and other litigation materials
- Conduct legal research and help develop case strategy
- Manage cases and important workstreams from early assessment through resolution
- Handle discovery, both incoming and outgoing
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals
- Communicate directly with clients on case status and recommendations
- Manage deadlines and competing priorities across multiple matters
Qualifications
- Three or more years of meaningful litigation experience (mid-level associates through established litigators are encouraged to apply)
- Exceptional, demonstrated legal writing ability
- Outstanding analytical and organizational skills
- Strong client communication and professional judgment
- Ability to manage multiple active matters effectively
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Colorado licensure or ability to quickly become licensed in Colorado
Preferred
- Deposition and motion practice experience
- Trial, arbitration, and evidentiary hearing experience
- Experience with complex civil litigation (employment, corporate, commercial, etc.)
Compensation and Benefits
- Performance-based bonuses tied to contributions, quality, efficiency, and results
Benefits include:
- Hybrid work available
- Health insurance
- Retirement plan
- Paid holidays
- Paid parking
- Technology and support
- Professional development
